Andrew Griffiths is a talented and versatile conductor with a particular flair for opera and choral music. He studied under Martyn
Brabbins, and trained at Scottish Opera, the National Opera Studio, and the Royal Opera House, where he was a Jette Parker Young Artist.
Alongside his work as Head Coach at the National Opera Studio, he maintains a busy freelance career, which has included conducting productions for The Royal Opera, The Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera, Opera North, Early Opera Company, Mid Wales Opera, Bampton Classical Opera and Iford Festival Opera, and concerts with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Orchestra of the Swan, and Southbank Sinfonia. He frequently broadcasts and performs with the BBC Singers, and is Musical Director of Londinium and Kingston Choral Society. He has also worked with the BBC Symphony Chorus, Coro Casa da Música, the choirs at Dartington International Summer School, and Hong Kong’s Tallis Vocalis, and he sings as a founder member of the renowned consort Stile Antico.
Andrew’s recent and forthcoming engagements include a Passiontide broadcast with the BBC Singers, premiere recordings of Leighton with Londinium, Monteverdi’s Vespers at Dartington, and assistant conductor/continuo for Theodora and Alcina at The Royal Opera.
