A professional lighting designer since 1993, Trui Malten lights theatre, opera, dance and performance pieces, and has previously collaborated with Eleanor Burke in Bluebeard’s Castle and Carmen.
Earlier this year she has worked with director Alex Byrne, from New International Encounter and Marc Mac Lochlainn, from Branar Teatar in Ireland to create Grand Soft Day, a theatre piece for 4 year olds. Snow White by NIE was at the Polka Theatre and in December NIE’s Snow Queen will be at the Tobacco Factory in Bristol. Other shows she designed for NIE include I Will Be Everything, and Beauty and The Beast.
Trui worked with designer Chris Akerlind on Indecent at the Menier Chocolate Factory. In Norwich she designed sets, lights and costumes for the first outdoor production after lockdown: Tatlin’s Tower. With performer Adie Mueller, Trui developed and designed My Heart, My Heart, Live Poetry Jukebox, a poetry performance project that is touring the UK.
