Welsh mezzo-soprano Rachel Morás was born and raised in Port Talbot. A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she was funded in her studies by the Laura Ashley Foundation and won several awards including
the Pendyrus Male Voice Choir Soloist Award. Operatic roles include among others Carmen Carmen, Maddalena Rigoletto, Tisbe Cenerentola, Pauline The Queen of Spades, Witch Hansel and Gretel, and Giulio Cesare Giulio Cesare in Egitto.
Rachel has performed recitals across Britain, Italy, and France and can be heard singing the roles of the Black Cat and the Squirrel in Ravel L’enfant et les sortilèges which is used in creative music making programmes in SEN schools in
and around Birmingham. She is also a regular on the concert platform. Future engagements include Suzuki Madama Butterfly, and Lola Cavalleria rusticana. Rachel joined Grange Park Opera Chorus last season taking part in their online Quarantine Chorus and is delighted to be joining the extra chorus of Welsh National Opera.
