Monwabisi Lindi was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa where he studied with Pierre du Toit at the Tshwane University of Technology; he is also a recent graduate of the National Opera Studio, London. He made his UK debut as a memorable Rodolfo in HGO’s 2019 production of La Bohème, which brought him to the attention of to several UK opera companies.
During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020 he was awarded a tenor prize in the Voices of South Africa singing competition. Among his recent highlights are Charles Edward, covering the title role Candide (Scottish Opera); Lord Chamberlain The Spectre Knight (Wexford Festival Opera); and Vitellozzo Lucrezia Borgia (English Touring Opera). He has also covered Chevalier Belfiore Il viaggio a Reims (English Touring Opera); Elvino La sonnambula (Buxton Festival Opera); and Policeman/Congregant 2 Blue (English National Opera). In May and June 2024 he is singing Gastone La traviata with Scottish Opera.
