Born  in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Monwabisi studied voice at Tshwane University of Technology and has sung with Cape Town Opera in South Africa and Europe. In 2016 he was in the chorus at Aix-en-Provence for productions of Così fan tutte and Pelléas et Mélisande.  Monwabisi is singing in Porgy and Bess in Frankfurt in September 2019 before coming to London to sing Rodolfo for HGO.
