Katey Rylands is an English mezzo-soprano who has now finished her education at the Royal Academy of Music. Katey’s recent successes includes winning the Jay Memorial Prize. Whilst at the Academy, Katey was involved in many exciting projects, performing in the RAO chorus for Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges and Massenet’s Chérubin. She performed the roles of Cherubino, Nancy, Orfeo, Hermia and Dorabella in Vocal Faculty opera scenes. During her MA degree, Katey performed the role of Dido in HGO’s production of Dido & Aeneas and has performed as a chorus member in West Green House Opera’s summer production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore. Recently Katey was a part of the Opera Holland Park 2024 season as part of the chorus. She very much enjoyed performing in Pagliacci and The Yeoman of the Guard. Katey now is looking forward to being part of the ensemble in Gothic Opera’s autumn production of Donizetti’s Maria De Rudenz, and cannot wait to see what opportunities arise in the near future.
