Emily Beech is an Irish/British opera maker and musician, and is delighted to be working on her first show with HGO. Previously, she co-directed 1936: Fishing, a new chamber opera by Robert Ely for the Tete-a-Tete festival 2022, and she looks forward to directing another of Robert’s works for this year’s festival. As a facilitator, Emily recently worked with the Irene Taylor Trust to devise a performance of music composed and inspired by the stories of those with lived experience of the criminal justice system. Alongside her directing work, Emily is also a freelance soprano about to complete her Masters in vocal performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she is generously supported by a Kathleen Roberts scholarship, the John Clemence Charitable Trust, and a choral scholarship from Thames Philharmonic Choir. She is a SongEasel Young Artist for 2023.
