Eleanor Burke is the Founder and Artistic Director of Green Opera, an environmentally sustainable opera company, and is currently a Jette Parker Artist at the Royal Opera House. She was a Staff Director at Theatres Krefeld and Mönchengladbach, Germany where her revivals included Don Pasquale, Rusalka, and Die Zauberflöte. She was also the Revival Director for Waterperry Opera Festival’s UK Tour of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park and has assisted and worked with companies including Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, Silent Opera and British Youth Opera.
Eleanor’s recent productions include the world-premiere of Emily Hazrati/Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh, TIDE (Aldeburgh Festival); Isolated Incidents, a series of short new operas :Green Opera; The Rape of Lucretia (Opera Asteria in aid of Women’s Refuge); Carmen (West Road Concert Hall, Cambridge); Bluebeard’s Castle (Green Opera, Grimeborn Festival) and Louise Bertin’s Le Loup-garou (Gothic Opera). This season she will assist on productions of Tosca, Tannhäuser and Arminio at the Royal Opera House and direct the Jette Parker Summer Performance on the Mainstage.
