Hera Protopapas is a Greek-Swedish mezzo soprano with a passion for storytelling. Fascinated by narratives that transcend time periods and styles, they have a wide-ranging musical interest with a particular love for early and new music. Recent engagements include chorus in Avner Dorman’s opera Wahnfried and covering Sorceress, 1^st and 2^nd Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, both with Longborough Festival Opera, as well as a staged recording of music by 17^th Century composer Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, reworked for two voices and electronics by Swedish composer Arvid Kraft. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Hera was a regular participant in the Academy’s Bach Cantata concert series and now performs regularly as a soloist in concerts and oratorio performances as well as in choral and consort settings.
