Hera Protopapas is a Greek-Swedish mezzo soprano with a passion for storytelling. Fascinated by narratives that transcend time periods and styles, they have a wide-ranging musical interest with a particular love for early and new music. Recent engagements include chorus in Avner Dorman’s opera Wahnfried and covering Sorceress, 1st and 2nd Witch in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, both with Longborough Festival Opera, as well as a staged recording of music by 17th Century composer Chiara Margarita Cozzolani, reworked for two voices and electronics by Swedish composer Arvid Kraft. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Hera was a regular participant in the Academy’s Bach Cantata concert series and now performs regularly as a soloist in concerts and oratorio performances as well as in choral and consort settings.
