Eleanor Burke is an Anglo-Irish director and is Artistic Director of Green Opera, the world’s first environmentally-sustainable opera company. She was previously a staff director at Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach and is a graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge. Eleanor became the youngest director ever accepted onto the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme (2022-24) at the Royal Opera House, London. Her production of The Cunning Little Vixen for HGO won a 2023 Offie Award . Other recent work includes William Gardner/Matthew Green The Prisoner (Royal Academy of Music); 555: Verlaine en Prison (La Monnaie, Brussels and ROH Crush Room); La Voix Humaine (King’s Head Theatre); Bluebeard’s Castle (Green Opera) and TIDE (Britten Pears Arts, Aldeburgh Festival). . In 2023, Eleanor was chosen by Robert Carsen, winner of the grand prix de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts 2023/2024, as one of three artists to share the prize fund. This season, apart form HGO’s Onegin, Eleanor works on new productions at The Royal Opera House, Opéra-Comique, Theater an der Wien, Wiener Staatsoper and Festival Aix-en-Provence and directs L’Incoronazione di Poppea (Theater im Delphi, Berlin).
