Betty Makharinsky, soprano, trained at GSMD and on the Barock Vokal programme in Mainz, Germany. Her repertoire ranges from solo Baroque lute song and consort singing (BBC R3 lunchtime concert broadcast, Dec 2023), oratorio solos (Brahms’s Requiem at SJSS, March 2024; Haydn’s Missa in Tempore Belli at the Al Bustan Festival in Lebanon, 2023), song recitals (for the Mahler Society, April 2024) and operatic roles. Recent role credits include Lieschen Coffee Cantata (Vache Baroque) Flora The Turn of the Screw (Dartington International Festival), The Model WEAR (Tête à Tête Festival), Amor Orfeo ed Euridice (New Sussex Opera), and covering Zerlina Don Giovanni (HeadFirst Productions). Betty has performed extensively with choirs including Oxford Consort of Voices, Hannover Band, and most recently at the Salzburg International Festival with Utopia Choir and Orchestra (c. Teodor Currentzis). Alongside singing, Betty produces classical music performances and education projects in her capacity as co-founder of Vache Baroque (Registered UK Charity 1193591) and of Philomel Creative Circle.
