
British tenor Matthew Curtis was a 2025 semifinalist in the Paris Opera Competition and participant in the prestigious Belvedere Gabor Singing Competitio. He is currently a Young Artist with Opera Prelude, where he recently presented The Tenor—a lecture-recital featuring arias by Puccini, Donizetti, Verdi, and Tchaikovsky. Recent stage highlights include Lensky in Eugene Onegin for HGO (2024), a production awarded an Offie for Best Opera Performance: Cast and Orchestra. Other roles include Fintan O’Riordan in Bloody Murder (Opera Workshop Limerick), Bill in Flight (Royal College of Music Opera Studio), and The Pilgrim’s Progress with British Youth Opera at the Three Choirs Festival. In 2023, Matthew joined the Glyndebourne Chorus for their autumn season, performing in Don Giovanni and L’elisir d’amore. He has also appeared with Nevill Holt Opera (La Cenerentola), IF Opera (Dido and Aeneas, La Rondine), Opera North (Silent Night), and Buxton International Festival (Eugene Onegin). Matthew holds a Master’s from the Royal College of Music and an undergraduate degree from the Royal Northern College of Music.
