British conductor Thomas Payne is quickly gaining international recognition on the podium. Described as ‘clearly a name to watch’ (Seen and Heard International), he enjoys relationships with a number of opera and ballet companies across the UK and abroad.

 
Recently making his debut with Scottish Ballet in The Snow Queen, and returning to conduct performances of A Streetcar Named Desire, Thomas was on the music staff of The Royal Opera and Royal Ballet as a member of the prestigious Jette Parker Young Artists Programme from 2018-20 before being appointed Musical Director for London City Orchestra. During his time at Covent Garden he was assistant and cover conductor for productions of Otello, Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Manon, Mayerling and Don Quixote among many others. He has since gone on to conduct orchestras such as The Orchestra of The Royal Opera House, The Royal Danish Theatre, Gothenburg Opera and Southbank Sinfonia.

Thomas has been asked to assist by many prominent conductors, most regularly by Antonio Pappano at London Symphony Orchestra and at Grange Park Opera where he has been on the Music Staff for the past four seasons. For Hampstead Garden Opera Thomas is fortunate to have conducted productions of Sāvitri, Le Nozze di Figaro and Agrippina.
