Trui Malten
Trui Malten lights theatre, opera, dance and performance pieces. She is currently based in Florence Italy. This is her fourth collaboration with Eleanor Burke. They did Carmen -Bizet for CUOS, Cambridge; Blue Beard’s Castle – Bartok, with at Grimeborne, Arcola Theatre London and HGO’s Cunning Little Vixen – Janacek at Jackson’s Theatre London.
Trui Malten just designed sets and lights for Another Goodbye, a monologue about letting go, which is currently touring the UK and Angels in America at Dickinson College, Pennsylvania. Amongst her recent opera collaborations have been Romeo and Juliette – Berlioz, for David Finn, Choreography Sasha Waltz in Łódź Poland; Il Matrimonio Segreto, – Cimarosa with Matelda Cappelletti in Pescara; Queen of Spades, Tchaikovsky – for Jennifer Tipton at Palau de les Arts, Valencia; Little Black Cat – devised, with Caroline Coetzee for Cambridge Youth Opera; Tamerlano – Handel, with Dionysios Kyropoulos for CHOC Cambridge. She collaborates often with Alex Byrne, director of New International Encounter. For NIE she lit Hansel and Gretel; Grand Soft Day; Snow Queen; Snow White; I will be Everything; Beauty and the Beast.
