Bradford-born countertenor Garreth Romain specialises in opera, oratorio, and choral music. Based in London, he is currently under the tutelage of Andrew Watts. He has been awarded degrees and other qualifications from University of Huddersfield, University of Leeds and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Previous roles include Athamas and Cupid (Handel’s Semele), Francis (Evan Henry’s The Heavenly Ledger), Hamor (Handel’s Jephtha) Cherubino (Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro), and, for HGO, parts in Blow’s Venus and Adonis and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. On completion of his studies at Trinity Laban, Garreth was awarded the prestigious Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholarship, the Finzi Trust and the Wilfred Greenhouse Allt Prize for Oratorio and Cantata.
Garreth regularly sings with the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir under Dr Ralph Allwood MBE. He also deputises for several London church choirs including The Chapel Royal St James’ Palace, St Marylebone Parish Church, and St Bride’s Fleet Street.
