Finn Lacey is a countertenor and stage director. After leaving The University of York in June 2021, Finn became a choral scholar at St Martin-in-the-Fields and began freelancing at a number of London churches. He was a member of the Genesis Sixteen 2021/22 cohort. In January, Finn assisted director Thomas Guthrie on a semi staged performance of Handel’s Messiah given by Echo Vocal Ensemble and Paragon Singers at St Swithin’s Church, Bath. In May, as part of a residency at Opera North, Finn assisted Matthew Eberhardt on a programme of Mozart opera scenes performed by the Young Artists of the National Opera Studio; he was the associate director for the showing in Hoxton Hall. Finn has had the pleasure of working on two productions at this year’s Grimeborn festival, assisting on Green Opera’s production of Bela Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle and as part of the creative team on Julia Burbach’s production of Wagner’s Siegfried at Hackney Empire. Looking ahead, Finn is excited to be singing Handel’s Messiah with The English Concert at Coventry Cathedral, and to be observing a production at the Royal Opera House in the new year.
