Alexander Semple read music at the University of Cambridge and now studies at the Royal College of Music under Russell Smythe. He is now pursuing a career both as a soloist and as a member of concert choirs such as Tenebrae and Polyphony. His opera repertoire includes Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Ferryman (Curlew River), Tarquinius (Rape of Lucretia) and Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), and has performed in the RCM Opera Scenes as Don Alfonso (Così fan Tutte), Alidoro (Cenerentola), Superintendent (Albert Herring), and Steward (Flight). He is excited to be taking on the full role of Alidoro in this HGO production, as well as Frank (Die Fledermaus) with Westminster Opera Company this Summer. Alexander is very gratefully supported as an RCM Scholar by the Linbury Scholarship, by the Josephine Baker Trust, and the Choir Association of St John’s College, Cambridge, and is a recipient of a Thames Philharmonic Choral Scholarship.
